January 31st Grooming Report
Return of Mug’s Meadow Traditional Routing!
Thanks to an ice flow that covered the road early in the season, the current forest service road rotary plow driver doing a great job, and the cooperation of the National Forest Service, we were able to open the gate that allows us to ski from Mug’s Meadow into the Black Hole/Boiler area. A word of caution: we are skiing on the road for a short distance and the Husky won’t fit through the gate so it is backing in to groom, however, you can now get through there like years ago. The goal is to periodically give it a good whack with the Ginzu to keep it flowing smoothly, enjoy!
Today’s Husky grooming went quite well with results being pretty good all through the grooming session. The snow is still pretty firm but with aggressive and deep tilling was able to be coerced into some acceptably good corduroy and skate lanes. In a few places you will see some grouser tracks or voids from the hard snow, but this morning’s skiers have been wearing smiles.
Thanks to Coach Kaya for the recent image of Devos having a good time at Trail Creek; Devos, Juniors, Prep/Comp, Teewinot, Lollipopper, and Wilson Winter Sports skiers will all be on the trails this afternoon, making for a very busy day!
Groomer’s choice for today is to check out the traditional routing of Mug’s Meadow.
