Camp Updates:
Many of the Freeride Program athletes are headed off to independent camps this summer and we wish you all the best for safe & productive sessions. Below is a look at what’s going on for summer camps within the Program.
Mammoth Summer Camp
Four athletes and two coaches just returned from an eleven-day adventure to Mammoth, CA. All of the athletes made significant progress toward their goals during the camp with a highlight of training on the private “Mammoth Spring Camp” airbag and jump facilities. On the way to California, the team stopped off in Park City for an afternoon at the Utah Olympic Park to train on the water ramps as well. The afternoons were busy with trips to the Volcom Brothers Skatepark and the Mammoth Trampoline Club facility. This was a great way for the team to start preparing for the 17/18 season. Stay tuned for a full photo gallery on FRP social media…
Skateboard Camps-
The first skate camp of the year was a hit, with a full van of 13 skaters and two Freeride Program Coaches. We visited the Driggs, Alpine, & Jackson skateparks during our two days of camp. With everyone involved improving their board skills the camp was a huge success. For a full Gallery of the images visit here.
The next Skate Camp on July 13-14 is sold out, but there is still room in the third and final skate camp of the summer on July 27-28. For more information, or to register, please visit here.
Mountain Bike Skills Camp-
We are combining two camps into one for the first-ever Mountain Bike Skills Camp on July 10-11. During the camp participants will learn the skills necessary to get them out on the trails while playing a variety of games and completing obstacle courses. For more information or to register, please visit here.
Utah Olympic Park Camps – Price increases $100 Saturday July 1!
After visiting the Mammoth Airbag jump, we know the coaches and athletes can testify to how valuable they are for learning new tricks. Utah’s Olympic Park will finish construction on their summer airbag jump in July. The Freeride Program is hosting two 3-day camps at the water ramp facilities and the airbag jump in August. We have space available in both camps. For more information, or to register, please visit here.
Axis Gymnastics to reopen July 24th
New Freeride program weekly sessions every Wednesday from 4-5
pm starting July 26th. Coaches include Tyler Martin, Aaron Hallenbeck & Rob LaPier. Punch passes are available from Axis Gymnastics.
Wild West Skateboard Contest Series
We are looking forward to the fifth year of hosting an increasingly popular summer event series with three core events in the Teton Region. These events serve as a fundraiser for the JHSC Freeride Program and the Teton County Parks and Recreation Department. Please come to skate or have a burger and watch the fancy footwork of the region’s most talented skaters.
Please remember the importance of participating in complimentary sports and staying active this summer. The Fall is not far away.
Kind Regards,
-Rob
