Off-season!
April is always a quiet month for the JHSC Nordic Program, and this year was no exception! Athletes have been recovering, doing Spring sports, and taking time off from Nordic to reset for the upcoming year. Coaches have been doing the same and spent some time dispersing throughout the world to mostly warm places for the off season. JHSC Nordic coaches have gone to Baja, Spain, Moab, and Lake Powell among other places to take some time and reset before the summer. Hopefully all of the athletes have also taken some intentional time off from Nordic skiing to give their bodies a good chance to recover and get ready for the start of the training season on May 1!
End of Season Awards
The JHSC Nordic Program had our end-of-season banquet in March at Jackson Elementary School. It was a fantastic day that saw all of our program participants together under one roof! The banquet is a great time to recognize the participation and achievements of every single member of the Nordic Program and also recognize the season's standout performers with special awards. We present different awards to members of each group to recognize different age-specific aspects of sport. For example, we do not select a skier of the year in our younger programs but instead recognize the "Tough Cookie" for Teewinots. The list of all JHSC Award recipients is below:

Summer Training Schedule
While the Nordic training year traditionally starts on May 1st, the Prep/Comp team will start holding practices with Bend Camp from May 13-21. We will have training opportunities for Junior Team athletes and older all summer! Junior Team training will start on June 19th, right after school gets out, and will be every Monday and Wednesday morning from 8-10 AM throughout the summer. Prep/Comp training will be every weekday morning and Monday/Wednesday afternoons throughout the summer. Please contact Will Wicherski if you have any questions or would like more info about summer training!
We will not hold any travel summer camps for the Prep/Comp team after Bend Camp. However, we are going to support many JHSC athletes in going to summer development projects put on regionally and nationally. JHSC athletes have qualified for National U16 Camp, Western Region Elite Group Camp, and the National Training Group camp this summer. More details will come in subsequent newsletters, but we are proud to have had so many athletes qualify for elite camps based on their outstanding performances this Winter!!
May 13-21: JHSC Bend Camp at Mt. Bachelor, OR
June 11-18: National Training Group Camp in Park City, UT
July 6-12: Western Region Elite Group Camp in Bozeman, MT
July 24-31: National U16 Camp in Lake Placid, NY
We are looking forward to another amazing summer of ski training in the Tetons!
