The Freestyle Program includes both the Freeride Skiing and Snowboard Programs.
Ages 6-9 (born in 2001-1998)
This program is designed to introduce elementary aged athletes to basic all-mountain skills through directed freeriding with an
emphasis on responsible mountain and terrain park etiquette. It meets Saturdays at the JHMR for a full day of fun.
They are arranged in groups, based on age, ability, and social needs. Each group will work with the same coach throughout the season.

This program offers a fun-filled, introductory riding experience for young snowboarders
1st through 5th grade who demonstrate basic snowboarding skills. Emphasis is on
freestyle training, big-mountain skills, responsible mountain and terrain park etiquette,
sportsmanship and team participation.

interest in entering the world of competitive riding through local events. Training

Ages 13-19 (born 1988-1994)
This program is geared toward athletes who have strong snowboarding skills and wish to
explore competition opportunities locally and regionally. (Athletes under the age of
13 are happily considered based on ability and JHSC approval.) Training will be
focused on weekend sessions at JHMR and one evening per week at Snow King. Dryland
training will be offered from October until opening weekend at JHMR in conjunction with
the Competition Team. The goal of the Training Team is for athletes to gain comfort,
experience, and confidence in a fun, competitive setting while meeting and interacting
with fellow snowboarders from around the region. An extra afternoon training session at
JHMR can be scheduled for an additional fee (school early-release will need to be
prearranged).

Additional afternoon training sessions are available to all Snowboard Training Team athletes who
wish to further their freestyle training focus and intend to compete regularly
in regional and/or national events. Athletes must be registered on the Snowboard
Training Team to participate (exceptions will be made for Devo Team athletes
based on ability and JHSC approval). Afternoon training sessions will begin
December 11th and run through March 18th from 2:00-4:00 at JHMR. In order to
participate, athletes will need to prearrange early release from school and
transportation to JHMR. Training sessions may be mixed with Competition Team
athletes in order to allow Training Team athletes to be part of a high-level
training environment.

national and international events. (Athletes under the age of 13 happily considered based
on ability and JHSC approval.) Training will be held at JHMR Tuesday through Saturdays in
conjunction with prearranged early-release school schedule. Scholastic Counselors will be
available on Mondays to monitor athletes' GPAs and provide tutoring. Additional training
may be planned throughout the season as need be and schedules permit. Dryland training
will be offered from October until opening weekend at JHMR. This program seeks to maximize
the athletes' freestyle and freeride snowboarding skills as well as build discipline, drive,
determination, and self confidence in a highly competitive setting.

This is a supplemental training session offered to registered Alpine
athletes who have an interest in exploring freeride skiing. Athletes will
train with Freeride Devo/Training Team athletes and coaches for three hours
on Sundays. Additional Coaches will assure the coach/athlete ratios wonÕt be
sacrificed by additional trainees.
