January 18th Grooming Report
Crisp Chilly Morning!
The day started off a bit on the chilly side this morning with temperatures in the negative Fahrenheit zone as the sun was rising. As the morning progressed and the waning gibbous moon set, temps have climbed to double digits and there is a blazing sun in a nearly perfect blue sky.
The forecast going forward is calling for another couple of chilly days. Looking at the images below, this week will also be pretty dry, with the National Weather Service Weather Prediction Center 7 day total quantitative precipitation forecast is predicting only around a tenth of an inch of precipitation (perhaps an inch of snow). Moving to our local snow reporting station, Phillips Bench, you can see that we’ve dropped to 84% of normal as of today. However, looking at the National Weather Service 8-14 day forecast, it appears as if significant precipitation will once again be heading our way.
Today’s grooming did encounter some pretty hard snow conditions. While skiers will see a few grouser tracks showing through, skiing still should be pretty good, especially as temps warm in the afternoon. The fields, Moose Loop, Homeward Bound, and Outward Bound all received multiple Husky passes and the rest of the trails also received a Husky grooming pass with fresh classic tracks.
Groomer’s choice for today is Outward Bound.
